Shelby Electric’s employees have a long history of working together to create a safe work place. That safety teamwork paid off recently when Shelby Electric Cooperative received a safety honor during the Safety/Supervisory Technical Conference held in Springfield. The award was given to cooperatives with outstanding “accident/illness” safety records for 2008. The conference is sponsored annually by the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives (AIEC). The theme of the conference was “Make Safety Your Brand.” Shelby Electric Cooperative serves 9,727 members with 2,226 miles of energized line in the counties of Christian, Macon and Shelby. The cooperative is a member of Touchstone Energy® — an alliance of more than 670 local, consumer-owned electric utilities around the country, committed to providing superior service based on four core principles: integrity, accountability, innovation and commitment to community.
