Shelby Electric Cooperative (SEC) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Operations Assistant. This position is 40 hours per week with the potential for occasional overtime. Normal operating hours are Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 4 pm.

Minimum qualifications:
1. Must have a high school diploma, GED certificate or equivalent.
2. Must be able to handle confidential information.
3. Must exhibit proficiency and working knowledge of personal computer system.
4. Must travel to attend functions/conferences relevant to this position.
5. Must have the ability to work efficiently, in an organized manner, with minimal supervision in a high stress environment.
6. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as good reasoning abilities.
 
Essential Job Duties:
1. Generate service orders as required for disconnects, reconnects, pole replacements, anchor replacements and other miscellaneous repairs.
2. Close out completed miscellaneous service orders and forward the others to the appropriate departments.
3. Submit Julie requests for service orders when needed.
4. Arrange contracts and generate service orders for outdoor security lights.
5. Issue disconnects on member service accounts identified by billing which are not meeting an approved extended payment schedule for balance due on electric services. 
6. Daily input of temperature records.
7. Receives tree trimming requests and generates appropriate service orders.
8. Inputs and submits purchase orders.
9. Required to help in the office during extensive power outages. 
10. Collect and verify information on line personnel time sheets and mileage sheets.
11. Maintain the daily schedule of appointments and production schedule.
12. Render prompt, efficient and courteous telephone answering service of incoming calls; place calls to members or others and relay messages as required.
13. Answers inquiries from members and employees concerning work in progress for the department. 
14. Assist with mail and answer correspondence as needed.
15. Maintain necessary logs of radio and telephone conversations.
16. Prepare "on-call" sheets.
17. Assist with collections.
18. Use automated meter reading system to read meters, connect and disconnect members.
19. Perform dispatch duties during outages.
20. Ensure all necessary information has been entered and clear OMS outages.
21. Attend and participate in annual meeting as required.
22. Assist member-owners with billing and service requests when necessary. 
23. Distribute work orders received from construction crews and servicemen.
