Cooperative School Visits
Meridian Career Fair

Apprentice Lineman and Forestry Foreman Luke Brown at Meridian Career Fair

We have been busy with some fun events to wrap up the school year!

On April 14, Forestry Foreman Luke Brown and Member Services Specialist Faith Wheeler attended the Shelbyville High School Career Fair. They were able to talk with over 400 students about their career paths and how to prepare for life after high school.

Apprentice Lineman Austin Bly, Luke Brown, and Faith Wheeler attended the Meridian Middle School Career Fair on April 24. Middle school students visited each booth and asked a variety of questions.

Shelbyville High School’s Manufacturing Trades class visited the Cooperative on April 29. The students were able to watch climbing demonstrations by Luke Brown and Lineman Jamie Sharp. Jamie also demonstrated an egg climb, which is a popular event at the Lineman’s Rodeo. Challenges were set up for the students to try their hand at using an Extendo Stick to pull down a hot line clamp. Rubber gloves were also available to practice tying wire. All demonstrations and challenges were set up on dead practice lines.

We love living out the Cooperative Principles, being involved in our communities, and educating the future generations!
